Suilven a Mountain of Assynt

I just love the mountains that are to be found in the Assynt region of Sutherland in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland.

Suilven at SunriseSuilven at SunriseSuilven photographed not long after the sun had appeared in the sky on an Autumnal morning with its reflection showing among the reeds in the waters of Loch Druim Suardalain in Sutherland, Northwest Highlands of Scotland. Suilven as pictured above and below is my favourite, no matter the time of year or from where it is photographed, it always pleases me when I catch my first glimpse of it either by foot or by car on my travels.

Suilven in WinterSuilven in WinterSuilven seen from a distance across a frozen Loch Borralan in the county of Sutherland, Northwest Scotland, it might look higher but Suilven reaches only 2400 feet or thereabouts. I especially like to see it with its winter coat on as pictured above but again it also looks appealing in the height of summer. Suilven Reflections at DuskSuilven Reflections at DuskThe iconic mountain of Suilven in the northwest highlands of Scotland in Sutherland, seen here after the sun had set and the mists were begining to form across Loch Craggie, upon which it is reflected in. Although the sunset image above has some lovely hues in it, Suilven is such an interesting feature it can look equally as stunning when photographed in black and white.

A long exposure photograph begins to catch the reflections of Suilven and the pines on the islet on to the loch.

I'll finish this short post with my latest Suilven image, this could also be the location for my next, hopefully looking across a frozen Fionn Loch to a snow covered mountain.
